Terms of use

These terms cover your use of paintqr.com, the generator and the codes you make with it. By making or buying a code you agree to them.

The service

PaintQR turns a web link, a contact card or a short text into a QR code whose squares form a picture you choose. Previews are free. Print files for a design are a one-off purchase. Editable links, which let you change where a printed code points, are part of a subscription.

PaintQR is PaintQR, a business name registered in Australia and held by a sole trader in the Australian Capital Territory. "We" in these terms means that business. The holder's name and ABN appear on every invoice and are available on request from [email protected].

We check every design against our own phone tests before it can be downloaded, and each download states the smallest size to print it at. Phones and printing vary, so we cannot guarantee that every phone reads every code in every condition; we can guarantee the refund described below.

What you can make

You must have the right to use any picture you upload, such as your own logo or photo, or one you are licensed to use. Library icons come from Phosphor Icons (MIT licence) and Noto Emoji (SIL Open Font Licence) and may be used in your codes, including commercially.

Codes must not be used for anything listed on our acceptable use page. We may refuse, pause or remove a code that breaks it.

What you own

You own the codes you make and the pictures you upload. You give us the permission we need to store them, generate your codes and show them back to you. We do not use your pictures for anything else and do not show them publicly.

Accounts

You do not need an account to make or buy a code. Signing in (by an emailed link or with Google) keeps your designs and purchases in one place so you can download them again, and attaches purchases made earlier with the same email address. Keep your email account secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.

Purchases

A download purchase covers one design: its PNG, SVG and PDF files, at any size, downloaded as often as you like, and one free redo within 7 days that keeps the same link or content. A code that contains your address directly works for as long as that address works, whether or not you keep an account.

Payments are taken by Stripe. Prices are shown before you pay, in your currency where we offer one, with any tax that applies. Without an account, the purchase is proved by the link in your receipt email and by this browser; keep the email.

Subscriptions and editable links

An editable link sends people through a short paintqr.com address to your destination, which you can change at any time. It works while your subscription is active.

If a subscription ends, your editable links keep forwarding for 30 days. After that they show a neutral page saying the code is paused, with no advertising, until you resubscribe. Files you bought stay available.

You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal.

Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other consumer protection law that applies to you. Beyond those rights, our total liability for a purchase is limited to what you paid for it.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we update the date above and, if you have an account, tell you by email before the change applies.
